Hemodynamics

Hemodynamic monitoring determines the adequacy of tissue and organ perfusion and it lays the foundation for all patient monitoring. With increasing levels of patient acuity, different sets of monitoring tools and measurements are required, starting with basic non-invasive measurements and moving up to heavily invasive techniques for more compromised patients. Circulation, oxygen return, mechanical function of the heart, and oxygen delivery are the cornerstones of hemodynamic monitoring.
